Hobbs Nite League playoffs underway, quarterfinals Tuesday

for a layup Monday at Tasker Arena.
The Hobbs Nite League postseason is underway with no upsets early on and a Hobbs I team (the returning varsity players) for the first time in years with a chance to make noise and make a run for the title.
One quarterfinal was already determined Monday night when top-seeded All the Above (led by former Eagles Billy Austin and Juhreece Thompson) won via forfeit against Stroke Sumn (the team was a no show). ATA won the title last season and will be a tough out once again.
The other semifinal on that side of the bracket will be 6:30 p.m. today at Tasker Arena (where all games take place) when No. 4 Hobbs I takes on No. 5 Who U Wit (led by former Eagles Benny Baeza and Chris French). This will be a tough matchup for full-court pressing Hobbs I as Who U Wit has very good guard play in Baeza and French.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Ol' Skool (led by former Eagle Ronald Ross and NMJC player Dekabriean Eldridge) takes on No. 7 Score (led by Lovington grads Jawaan Payne, Jared Swenson and Chief Bridgforth). Great matchup at 8:30 p.m. today.
The other game on this side of the bracket will be No. 3 Team TTB (led by high-flying Texas natives Anthony and Dontae Flemons as well as 2012 Seminole grad Jarod Adams) against No. 6 Thunder (led by former Eagles Brandon Marinovich, Adam Marinovich and Jordan Lee). Thunder is going to have to keep TTB out of transition to have a chance at this one, which starts at 7:30 p.m. today.
